Musicians unite and party for peace in London

To promote and celebrate ‘World Peace Day’ and the global ceasefire on 21st September

Talented international musicians will be singing uplifting songs for peace at a free ‘Global United Party For Peace’ at ‘The Bedford’ in London on ‘Peace Day’, 21st September.

The Musicians include: ‘Mike Lindup’ and ‘Phil Gould’ from one of the biggest and most popular bands of the eighties, ‘Level 42’. ‘John Young’ whose worked with the Scorpions, Asia, ‘John Wetton’ and ‘Bonnie Tyler’. ‘Steve Balsamo’ who was highly acclaimed for his starring West End role in Andrew Lloyd Webber's Jesus Christ Superstar and now lead singer of Welsh rock band ‘The Storys’. Grammy Award Winner ‘Heather Cairncross’ who regularly sings with ‘Steve Reich & Musicians’ and is a soloist with ‘Sir John Eliot Gardiner’ . Eight times Jazz Pianist of the Year, ‘David Newton’, along with ‘Sarah Jane Morris’, ‘Antonio Forcione’, ‘Tony Moore’, ‘Shawn Gallaway’, ‘Xander Nichting’ and ‘Chris Hill’

The party, which is also being streamed live on the internet and in 3D world ‘Secondlife’ has been organised by global movement ‘Peace In Our Lifetime’ to raise awareness about 'Peace Day', an annual Global ceasefire which is observed by all United Nations. This amazing accomplishment was established in 2001 by 'Peace One Day', a global community founded and led by British film-maker Jeremy Gilley. On Peace Day 2007 in Afghanistan, thanks to the efforts of 'Peace One Day', during the ceasefire NGO’s were able to mobilise and reach people in previously isolated war zones, allowing 1.4 million children to be immunised for Polio.

“Our Global United Party For Peace has been created to recognise and celebrate ‘Peace One Day’s extraordinary work and to thank everyone who works towards peace every day”, said Lynne Hazelden, the Actress and Peace Pioneer who inspired and founded 'Peace In Our Lifetime'. The movement has been nurtured by liked minded volunteers, which Ms Hazelden linked up. Their aims are to count one billion people around the world who make a personal and conscious choice to stand together for peace, freely and uniquely; and to unite all: causes, people, cultures, nations, beliefs and non-beliefs' to one voice. They are achieving this via their website (www.peaceinourlifetime.org) where they acknowledge and thank each person who adds their voice to peace by providing them with a free personalized certificate' and unique voice number.

Around the world, thousands of people have added their voice to peace, including the musicians performing at the London peace party. Mike Lindup, whose unique voice number is 0,000,003,497, and who wrote a song for ‘Peace One Day’ nine years ago has stated, "It is very easy to want ‘World Peace’ and yet fail to see where we have created conflict in our personal lives. So I think peace definitely begins at home, in the near relationships, in the heart, with yourself. In that spirit I am honoured to be given the opportunity to create peace on this day.”

Welsh singer ‘Steve Balsamo’, voice number of 0,000,000,525 said, “I am really looking forward to performing at ‘Peace In Our Lifetimes' London 'Global United Party For Peace' event. To mark and celebrate a day when human beings lay down our weapons as a conscious choice is important. I'm honoured to be communicating this important message through music.”

Talking about Ms Hazelden and the event, Grammy Award Winner Heather Cairncross’, voice number 0,000,000,005 said, “I have had the privilege of being a close friend of Lynne Hazelden for over ten years. She has always shown tremendous compassion and support towards all of her friends but that special care always stretched further into her love of nature and the planet. This Peace Day Concert has been created as an organic extension of her ability to be open to people and their needs and act as a catalyst for change. I am honoured to have the opportunity to take part in this extraordinary event which celebrates the power of the ordinary person to join together with their fellow man to create one voice calling for Peace on our Planet."

Italian guitarist, composer and performer ‘Antonio Forcione’, voice number 0,000,003,920, said "It's a great idea; to link up around the world and make a stand for something everyone believes in. That's how it is nowadays - we have the technology to unite on an issue the whole world supports. History has shown, artists and musicians often lead the way and eventually politicians follow!'

Talking about the peace party in London, Musician and Radio Presenter Tony Moore (voice number 0,000,003,127), who runs the music venue ‘The Bedford’ said, “Peace In Our Lifetimes' London 'Global United Party For Peace' will be an exciting and thought provoking evening of musical passion and positive energy to make us all think carefully about the choices we have, that can make a difference for peace. I am proud and honoured to be a part of it."

In addition to the event in London, peace parties will also be held in the USA, Canada, Brazil, Hawaii, South Africa and Jerusalem. These events have been organised in conjunction with key partners, including 'PeaceJam' a pioneering organisation who partner youth with Nobel Laureates. PeaceJams' intention is to bring forth the next generation of peacemakers through worldwide projects, including an initiative called 'A Billion Simple Acts of Peace'

“Peace begins with each person and ripples out to those we care for in our family, friends, communities and eventually reaching out across the world to everyone,” said Ms Hazelden, “With the help of the kind, dedicated musicians performing at our Global United Party For Peace, we will be sending giant ripples of peace across the world during.”

Editors Notes

'Peace In Our Lifetime' (www.peaceinourlifetime.org) was inspired and founded by Lynne Hazelden (voice 0,000,000,001) (www.lynnehazelden.com) an actress (number of roles including playing Karie Neth in Star Wars: Return of The Jedi) (www.imdb.com/name/nm2368182/), peace pioneer (worked on the ''Nelson Mandela Tribute', 'John Lennon Tribute', and 'The Hunger Project'), philosophical poet & writer and transformation facilitator.

A number of volunteers around the world have been inspired by Lynne’s work and together have developed the innovative 'Peace In Our Lifetime' movement.

Its aims are to:

• Unite all: causes, people, cultures, nations, beliefs and non-beliefs.

• Inspire one billion people to take a stand for peace and add their voice, by downloading a free Peace Certificate (http://www.planting-seeds.com/i_stand_peace_our_lifetime) Why one billion? This figure is more than ten percent of the whole population - which quantum scientists say will create a shift in consciousness.

'Peace One Day' (www.peaceoneday.org) is founded by British Filmaker Jeremy Gilley (www.imdb.com/name/nm0319074/). In 1999, Jeremy launched 'Peace One Day' to find a starting point for peace. His mission: to document efforts to establish the first ever annual day of global ceasefire and non-violence. Remarkably, two years on, he achieved this when the 192 member states of the United Nations unanimously adopted 21 September, as an annual day of global ceasefire and non-violence. This day is a 24 hour-long platform for life-saving activities around the world. On Peace Day 2007 in Afghanistan, through the efforts of 'Peace One Day', 1.4 million children were immunised for Polio.

'Global United Party for Peace' (http://www.planting-seeds.com/peace_day_21st_sept_2009)  on 21st September, in support of 'Peace One Day's excellent work, 'Peace In Our Life Time' will be holding a 'Global United Party For Peace', in conjunction with:
