IMMEDIATE RELEASE DATE

Peace Parties Celebrate Global Ceasefire

It’s a Global Ceasefire on September 21st, does anyone know?

On 21st September, 'Peace Day', a Global ceasefire is observed by all United Nations. This amazing accomplishment was established in 2001 by 'Peace One Day', a global community founded and led by British film-maker Jeremy Gilley.

To bring awareness to the seemingly unknown global ceasefire, and to support the extraordinary work of 'Peace One Day' as well as thanking everyone around the world who create peace every day, a 'Global United Party For Peace' has been organised by 'Peace In Our Lifetime' in conjunction with key partners including 'PeaceJam' a pioneering organisation who partner youth with Nobel Laureates. PeaceJams' intention is to bring forth the next generation of peacemakers through worldwide projects.

Peace parties, incorporating inspirational films and uplifting music from talented international artistes, such as Mike Lindup (Level 42), John Young (Asia, Scorpions), Steve Balsamo (Jesus Christ Superstar and The Storys) will be held in countries across the world including the UK, USA, Canada, Brazil, Hawaii, South Africa and Jerusalem. The parties will be streamed live on the internet and in venues in the 3D virtual world 'Secondlife'. Inspirational 'peace themed' school assemblies for children will take place in Jerusalem, Canada, Ecuador, Nairobi and other countries around the world.

'Peace Day' was created by Jeremy Gilley as a starting point for peace. After years of hard work and times of uncertainty, he succeeded and the United Nations agreed the 21st September as an international, annual day of global ceasefire and non-violence for all people. On Peace Day 2007 in Afghanistan, thanks to the efforts of 'Peace One Day', during the ceasefire NGO’s were able to mobilise and reach people in previously isolated war zones, allowing 1.4 million children to be immunised for Polio.

Peace One Days extraordinary work needs to be recognised and celebrated,” said Lynne Hazelden, the Actress and Peace Pioneer who inspired and founded 'Peace In Our Lifetime'. The movement has been nurtured by liked minded volunteers which Ms Hazelden linked up. Their aims are to count one billion people around the world who make a personal and conscious choice to stand together for peace, freely and uniquely; and to unite all: causes, people, cultures, nations, beliefs and non-beliefs' to one voice. They are achieving this via their website (

www.peaceinourlifetime.org) where they acknowledge and thank each person who adds their voice to peace by providing them with a free personalized certificate' and unique voice number.

Peace In Our Lifetime presents the idea that peace begins with each one of us and they wish to restore the idea that people can and do make a difference everyday. They want to create a place where humanity can shine and celebrate the amazing humanitarian and environmental achievements of individuals and organisations, which unfortunately tend to get lost amongst all the bad news.

Every day people are helping, caring and supporting each other with peaceful acts in families, communities and countries, yet society hardly notices. If we focus on these positive acts and achievements, then we can change the way people see the world, and restore people’s willingness to believe they can make a real difference,” said Ms Hazelden, “Every individual action and voice counts, and I believe that there is now a willingness to co-operate with each other and to bring an era of dignity and grace, rather than greed and personal resignation. You could say that there is an evolution of our capacity to co exist.”

Around the world, thousands of people have added their voice, including peace pioneers such as 'Peace One Day' founder Jeremy Gilley (voice 0,000,000,278), PeaceJam founder Dawn Engel (voice 0,000,000,780) and author of the 'Moses Code' James Twyman (voice 0,000,000,434) who states, "I love the vision of this project and the creativity that inspired it. Today more and ever before we need to think outside the box and offer new ideas that help humanity see its own potential. This idea does all of that and I'm in full support.”

Artistes performing at the peace parties, have also added their voices too, including:

'Steve Balsamo' (voice 0,000,000,525) stated “I am really looking forward to performing at 'Peace In Our Lifetimes' London 'Global United Party For Peace' event. To mark and celebrate a day when human beings lay down our weapons as a conscious choice is important. I'm honoured to be communicating this important message through music.”

'Tony Moore' (voice 0,000,003,127) who has said, "Peace In Our Lifetimes' London 'Global United Party For Peace' will be an exciting and thought provoking evening of musical passion and positive energy to make us all think carefully about the choices we have, that can make a difference for peace. I am proud and honoured to be a part of it.”

'Antonio Forcione' (voice 0,000,003,920) stated, "It's a great idea; to link up around the world and make a stand for something everyone believes in. That's how it is nowadays - we have the technology to unite on an issue the whole world supports. History has shown, artists and musicians often lead the way and eventually politicians follow!'

In addition to music, the peace parties will feature inspirational films including 'Peace One Day's incredible film 'The Day After Peace' along with a number of short PeaceJam documentaries which highlight the amazing work of their staff and volunteers.

To commemorate Peace Day 2009, PeaceJam would like to thank all of our PeaceJam Affiliate and Chapter staff and volunteers around the world for all they do every day to bring peace to the youth and their communities, as well as all the other organizations and individuals that support peaceful efforts year-round.” Said Dr. Kate Cumbo, Director of Programs for the PeaceJam Foundation.

Editors Notes

'Peace In Our Lifetime' (www.peaceinourlifetime.org) was inspired and founded by Lynne Hazelden (voice 0,000,000,001) (

www.lynnehazelden.com) an actress (number of roles including playing Karie Neth in Star Wars: Return of The Jedi) (

www.imdb.com/name/nm2368182/), peace pioneer (worked on the ''Nelson Mandela Tribute', 'John Lennon Tribute', and 'The Hunger Project'), philosophical poet & writer and transformation facilitator

A number of volunteers around the world have been inspired by Lynnes' work and together have developed the innovative 'Peace In Our Lifetime' movement.

Its aims are to:

  •

Unite all: causes, people, cultures, nations, beliefs and non-beliefs.

  •

Inspire one billion people to take a stand for peace and add their voice, by downloading a free Peace Certificate (

http://www.planting-seeds.com/i_stand_peace_our_lifetime) Why one billion? This figure is more than ten percent of the whole population - which quantum scientists say will create a shift in consciousness.

'Peace One Day' (

www.peaceoneday.org) is founded by British Filmaker Jeremy Gilley, in 1999, Jeremy launched 'Peace One Day' to find a starting point for peace. His mission: to document efforts to establish the first ever annual day of global ceasefire and non-violence. Remarkably, two years on, he achieved this when the 192 member states of the United Nations unanimously adopted 21 September, as an annual day of global ceasefire and non-violence. This day is a 24 hour-long platform for life-saving activities around the world. On Peace Day 2007 in Afghanistan, through the efforts of 'Peace One Day', 1.4 million children were immunised for Polio.
